PRESERVATION AND PROGRESS – THE STORY OF CHESTER SINCE 1960
A new book published by Chester Civic Trust to celebrate their Golden Jubilee was launched on Friday 2nd November by Sir Donald Insall. Entitled: ‘PRESERVATION AND PROGRESS – THE STORY OF CHESTER SINCE 1960, it has been written by Peter de Figueiredo and Cyril Morris and is edited by the Trust’s Vice President and Chairman of the Jubilee Committee, Stephen Langtree. The book is lavishly illustrated with over 250 photographs in full colour.

The launch ceremony was held at Bishop Lloyd’s Palace, The Trust’s headquarters. Dedicated to the founders of the Trust in 1960, the book records a significant period in the development of Chester and the first 50 years of the Trust.

Praising the Trust, Sir Donald Insall, who earlier in the day had received an honorary degree from the University of Chester, said he hoped the book will be read by all who love and care for the city.
